Ma Crush Monday: Nathalie Coppens: Designer, Shopper, and Traveler

Our friend, Dana introduced us to Nathalie and our hearts went a-flutter. This beautiful family of wanderlusts brings inspiration and admiration to a whole new level- they are Bohemian in the truest sense. Nathalie has worked as an interior designer at Bonetti/Kozerki studio, an architecture firm, for the last 14 years in New York. A few years ago - after the birth of their daughter - Nathalie and her husband, Khairi launched Superfussy : a travel- inspired shop. They had always enjoyed traveling and didn't stop after she was born. She inspired them and is the muse behind Superfussy, which initially started off as a bohemian kids wear line, but has since grown into to an all-around lifestyle shop, including adult wear and accessories.

"Over the past few years, we have explored the hilltop pagodas of Myanmar, trekked the jungles of Borneo, swam the pristine beaches of Costa rica, dived in the cenotes of Tulum and wandered into sacred temples in Bali and Thailand as part of our adventure together. 1.PS: Tell us a bit what's behind your children's names:

Milla Rose Mdnor, 5

NC: We had this name before we even got pregnant, and so we were thrilled to find out we were having a girl.

All our friends knew her name from the minute we shared the news of our pregnancy and I really liked everyone calling her by her name when she was still in my belly. In Arabic the meaning of the name Kamilla is Perfection - which seems like a lot of pressure ! We jokingly say Milla means "Almost Perfect."

We had decided on this name too before we found out we were pregnant, though this time around we also had a few boys names ready (my husband's wishful thinking ) We weren't sure of the spelling - Lulu vs. Loulou - and so we had Milla write it down a few times to help us decide.

2.PS: Can you share a few of your local Motherhood Favorites?

NC: Our number one favorite is traveling. Besides from exploring our countries and culture, it's spending 24/7 together as a family away from the daily grind that makes it so perfect. Despite the additional preparation and a few limitations that come with traveling with a toddler, it's such a beautiful and rewarding experience. Of all the places we've been our top 3 are: Myanmar, Philippines, and Borneo. Our last trip was to Turkey, Istanbul and Kabak Valley. Spending the day on a small boat and jumping in the Aegean Sea was pretty magical too. Next up will be Cuba this spring. I was there 10 years ago and been longing to go back before it all changes..

When we do stay local we love going to the beach. A few years ago our friends introduced us to Robert Moses Beach, at the tip of Fire Island. Only an hour away from the city this is our favorite spot. Milla loves the ocean. A day at the beach with her friends (we with ours and a bottle of wine) is the just the perfect summer day.

3.PS: What commonalities of Motherhood do you reject, and on the flip-side...do you have any guilty pleasures?

NC: I refuse to give up my white couch & furniture after having kids! And naturally we reject the idea that traveling has to change drastically after having kids.

My guilty pleasure is waking in up with Milla in our bed. She sneaks in in the middle of the night, pretty much every night. We love waking up with her. The fact that we have a king size bed also helps.
