Ma Crush Monday: Jessica Barensfeld: Jeweler and Plant Lover
Crushing is an understatement. We're swooning over designer Jessica Barensfeld, and her beautiful family for this week's #MA CRUSH. Click through to learn a few things about this illuminating Brooklynite.
We met Jessica years ago in her Williamsburg live/work space- an introduction made by her close friend and artist, Fanny Gentle. We became obsessed with her hand knit, embroidered and collaged necklaces . We were taken with the gorgeous, sun-drenched and artfully-arranged urban jungle she created with her now-husband, Simon Howell. The couple also owns the handcrafted, Alpaca beanie label, Lynn and Lawrence . Adding to their beautiful home of beautiful things, they made a darling baby boy. Jessica took a moment to tell us about him and answer #thesamethreequestions.
1.PS: Tell us a bit what's behind your children's names:
Lakota Cass, 6 months
J: Lakota - means friend and ally and is also one of the seven Sioux tribes. Simon (Lakota's dad) met a tribe elder in North Dakota awhile back and when we were considering names he proposed Lakota. We love how the name sounds and the strength it represents.
Cass - We were considering Casper as a first name but it got shortened to Cass as a middle name instead. It's cool and easy.
2.PS: Can you share a few of your Motherhood Favorites?
J: A short list of things I love:
Swedish Dream Salt Soaps & Candles. (I buy in bulk)
Frozen Grapes / green & purple (grapes are the greatest things in the world - frozen).
Plants.(I'm a plant lover!) Sprout Home in Brooklyn and Spielberg Nursery in Amagansett are two of my favorite plant spots.
Baby clothes. I wish I could get every single piece from Nature Baby.
Sunnies. RAEN.
The nicest selection of beautiful yarns (I love to knit). Purl Soho.
3. PS: Would you mind sharing a SCRIBBLE? (a doodle, a recipe, a poem- anything!)
