Ma Crush Monday: Caroline Kim of Rebel and Quill

Echo Park Mama (who only just returned to her hometown after a decade in Brooklyn) Caroline Kim of Rebel and Quill seems to live the gypset life we all daydream about. From recent travels to Iceland and her own bicoastal adventures, we can't get enough of her and her baby girl's photos on Instagram. Click for more as the designer answers #thesamethreequestions.

She's a talented maker of functional objects, specifically jewelry and home accessories. Caroline's signature pieces are shape-studies in brass : pragmatic designs like hooks and holders, as well as decorative hair combs and cool-girl pendants. She takes a minute from unpacking her new home to chat with us about motherhood and rituals in her two favorite cities.

1.PS: Tell us a bit what's behind your children's names:

Milo Luna, 2

CK: We have a beautiful and inspiring daughter by the name of Milo Luna. She is an eternal tomboy at heart and I'm guessing its from her boyish name Milo. Her middle name is Luna and it was an homage to her fathers moon sign Cancer in which his sign is ruled by the moon. Even though she has a boys name we still love it and feel like it fits her personality so well!

2.PS: Can you share a few of your local Motherhood Favorites?

CK: We have lived in Brooklyn for almost 7 years and we love everything about Brooklyn! Every weekend we would have a family brunch at either House of Small Wonder in Williamsburg or at Five Leaves in Greenpoint to say hello to our friends who worked there. Then after brunch we loved to walk through Mccarren park to check out the farmers market and come home with a new plant! We had 55 different plants in our tiny brooklyn apartment! Now that we are in Los Angeles, we love walking down Sunset Blvd. and grabbing a quick coffee and snack at Intelligentsia and we love walking through Reform School on the way back to our place. Echo park has amazing trails to hike and we enjoy our time in California because of the beautiful weather!

3. PS: Would you mind sharing a SCRIBBLE? (a doodle, a recipe, a poem- anything!)

*Note: We met on social media after a shared affection of beautiful family imagery and struck up conversation, only to serendipitously learn later that she is close with our own employer/collaborator Ariana Ost.
